I have been to Alder Hey this week for a catheter, I had to stay in hospital on the top of K2 all night. I had to get up last Tuesday at 5:30am so that I could have some breakfast as I was having a general anethestic for the Catheter so I wasn’t allowed to eat after 6am. Even my brother Benjamin wasn’t up, my daddy didn’t get up either, he said it was far too early so my mummy made me some toast which was nice.
I had to wait until 2 ‘o’ clock for my catheter, my mummy took me into the theatre and I had to wear a mask so that I could go to sleep quickly, my mummy always takes me in, my daddy says that mummy is more gentle than him so she should take me in.
As I am four and now a big girl that goes to school and can count to twenty all by myself, my mummy and daddy have been talking to me about my heart, they said that I was very poorly when I was a tiny baby and I had to go in an ambulance. My daddy says my friend Grace’s daddy has to go in ambulances quite a lot at football because he has sprained his ankle or his back or his finger! The catheter is a little camera that goes inside my heart and checks that everything is working properly and takes some pressure measurements.
When I woke up on the top of K2, my consultant showed my daddy the pictures of my heart, he was very excited and now things he is a heart surgeon, but I don’t think I will let him near me! I was sick quite a lot when I woke up, I am always sick when I have had a general anesthetic, I did get a new Disney DVD though, Rapunzel which is sooo good!
I got to go home on Wednesday morning and as usual I went to Toys For Us on the way home, I got myself a Rapunzel doll to play with, she is really nice and has got really long hair.
