My Operation

I had to get up at half past five so I could have a drink of water and then get to Alder Hey for seven o clock. My mummy gave me a shower using the special soap from the hospital and off we went, I was really good because I wasn't sick in the car, I am normally sick when I haven't had any breakfast.

 We went into K2and I got dressed into my hospital gown, my daddy carried me up to the operating theatre and my mummy took me into the anaesthetist's room and helped me go to sleep.

 It was a very very long day, the operation lasted 12 hours, then it took another 2 hours to get me settled in intensive care. I eventually got to see my mummy and daddy at eleven o clock at night, we were all very tired!!

My mummy and daddy had a meeting with the surgeon who told them I had been "hard work".

 The surgeon told them it took 5 hours to stop me bleeding and I had to go back onto the heart bypass machine as they weren't happy with my pulmonary pressures or something. I really know how to get my monies worth!!!

I was a bit up and down at first in icu but I settled down into a calm sleep at three o clock in the morning. The nurses looking after me were Susan and, yep you guessed it Claire! A different Claire from last time though but there are hundreds of intensive care nurses in Liverpool called Claire!
