Wednesday 3rd October

I have had my little eyes open today, just to let all the nurses know that I am watching their every move! I also saw my mum and dad smiling and making funny faces at me. They are silly!

I had a mini tomp tomp, there was discussion about providing me with a dummy (or soother as they call them in today's pc world). I couldn't have one though because it would have interfered with my ventilator as the hospital dummies are so big.

I received a box today delivered to ICU, I was made to wait though because the surgeons wanted to close my chest. Made to wait! Who do they think they are? As my friend Alfie from Chapel will know, the doctors leave babies' chests open after surgery to provide easy access in an emergency and to keep the pressure down on the heart from the excess fluid caused by the surgery.

The job went well so I demanded my box be opened and in it was a bunch of flowers (I now know what they are). Not a real bunch of flowers obviously because they are not allowed on ICU, but a bunch which had a hat and some socks rolled up to look like roses. Brilliant!

It was well timed because my pink & white striped Alder Hey christening hat was contaminated during the chest closing so I had to dispatch it for dry cleaning. I would like to say thank you to my friends Izzy and Gracie for organising the sock flowers! (I am sure their mum and dad had nothing to do with it)

I was looked after by Katie and Liz in the day and Irene at night and I behaved well....most of the time!
